Abraham and Isaac
An old and hoary Abraham and a young Isaac laden with firewood (19th-cent. B.C.). For just as Abraham only son, Isaac,carried on his shoulders the wood on which he was to be offered up in sacrifice on top of the mountain in the land of Moriah (Genesis 22:1-18), so also did Jesus, the only Son of God the Father, carry on His shoulders the wood of the cross on which He was to offer His life on top of Mount Calvary.
That is "The led Him away to crucify Him" (Matthew 27:31).
Jesus is presumed to have taken up His cross to go His way through the narrow streets of Jerusalem, and He is heralded by a flourish of trumpets. These buglers, of course, belong to the Qormi group Scouts.
