- Rev. Canon Bugelli - (was not only a very highly respected and most generous priest but has contributed greatly to the people and culture of Malta. He not only started the first elementary school for girls while he was serving as parish priest at Birzebbugia, but he also donated a house he owned for that purpose in the 1920s. He spent a few years working with Maltese immigrants and their families in Cyprus and started a home to shelter widows and orphans there. He also served two terms as a member of the Maltese Legislature. A complete history of Canon Bugelli is well documented at the Central Library in Malta and also at the public and church archives in Malta. )
- Joe E. Bugelli - (was born in Zabbar on July 20, 1947 to Paul and Annie (nee Wait) Bugelli. He was educated at the Zabbar elementary school and at the Lyceum until he emigrated with his parents to Canada in 1963. He continued his education in Canada at Durham College in Oshawa and did further studies at the University of Waterloo and various management studies at George Brown College in Toronto. In his business career, he worked his way to become President and C.E.O. of Computer Composition of Canada, Inc. He subsequently was also appointed President and C.E.O. of Pro-Image Corporation in York, Pennsylvania, U.S.A. Married to Lynda (nee Thompson), Joe has five children, Ernest, Jeffery, Teresa, Adrian and Ryan. Joe Bugelli also pursued a career in politics and became the first Maltese to be elected as Councillor in the Municipal elections in Whitby, Ontario in 1977. He was subsequently re-elected for four more terms of office before he chose to seek election to represent the Durh!
am Region Catholic Separtate School Board. He topped the polls in that election in 1992 and was subsequently elected as Chairman of Finance for the Board of Education. He served as Chairman of Central Lake Ontario Conservation Authority for eleven years, was elected and served five years on the Board of Directors on the Association of Municipalities of Ontario. Prior to retiring from public office, he served various terms as Chairman of the Whitby Fire Department, Chairman of Finance, Chairman of Parks and Recreation, and also as Chairman of Planning. Joe and his family still keep close to heart the Maltese heritage and culture and visit Malta almost annually. Joe recently moved from Whitby to Lagoon City, Brechin, Ontario.
- Paul Ignatius Bugelli - (was born in Cospicua on February 2, 1916 to Sylvester and Felicia (nee Vella) Bugelli. At the young age of 8 years, Paul's father Sylvester passed away and Paul and his younger brother Angelo, were boarded and educated at the Salesian Brothers School in Sliema. Paul joined the British Navy in 1936 and served for there for 28 years. In 1936 he also married Annie (nee Wait). He spent the war years on mine sweepers duties clearing mines and paving the way for supply and war ships to fortify and supplement the Maltese war effort. He was promoted to Petty Officer and subsequently to Chief Petty Officer. Among the many medals and decorations, Paul received the title B.E.M. (British Empire Medal) from her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in 1958 for his exemplary and dedicated service. Paul and Annie have seven children, Mary, Jessie, Rosie, Arthur, Salvinu, Joe and John. Rosie and her husband Eddie Bugeja still reside in Malta (in Attard), Salvinu is in Florida, U.S.!
A. and Mary, Jessie, Arthur, Joe and John live in Canada. Paul and Annie lived in Canada from 1963 until 1997 when they returned home to Marsascala. In February 2000, Paul and Annie moved back to Cospicua (literally around the corner from where he was born) where they still reside today.)
