Documents clearly demonstrate that this family name is of Greek origin. The surname Cachia, is derived from the Greek adjective 'kakos' and its comparative 'kakios'. It is widely documented both in Malta as well as in Greece.

- Emmanuel Cachia - (Counselor/Engineer since 1980s-. Worked with SITA, SGS and ELSACOM .Presently working with PRICE WATER HOUSE COOPERS.)
- Joseph Cachia - (was born on the 18th. of May, 1964. Lived at Zebbug, Malta. attended school at Zebbug Primary, and St. Albert the Great College Valleta for the secondary. Entered the School for Nurses in 1984, undergoing a course to become a nurse, which successfully completed in 1987. Since then he always worked as a paediatric nurse at Disneyland Ward, Karen Grech Hospital. During his working years, he showed interest in Paediatric Oncology (ie. the study of childhood cancer and its treatment, management and nursing care). He was chosen by the authorities of the Health Dept. to undergo a one-year course in London, exactly at the Royal Marsden Hospital, which is a specialised hospital for cancer patients including children. This course was under authority of the University of Manchester. Joseph finnished the course successfully, thus obtaining a diploma in Paediatric Oncology Nursing. This makes him the first nurse in Malta that is specialised in Paediatrics and with partucular!
interest in Paediatric Oncology. He still works at Disneyland Ward of the Karen Grech Hospital where children with cancer are taken care of. He is the leader in paediatric oncology nursing as well as a volontary in helping nursing students to make researches and studies regarding paediatric oncology. he is also the link person between those parents who have children with cancer and the doctors. his wish is taht someone else follow his footsteps and specialise in paediatric oncology so the load of work is shared and thus carried out better.
