The surname Cefai does not appear in a Militia list dating back to, I think, the 1100s. Dr Wttenger had published this list about 30 yrs ago.

However there is a record of a certain Lorenzo Cefai buying a house in Valletta when it was first built. This info comes from an English student who did research on the demographics of Valletta during 1970-1972.
